Tottenham Draw Everton
周二 4月 04, 2023 11:17 pm
Tottenham failed to see out yet another Premier League victory yesterday evening as Everton fought back from 1-0 down to steal a point at Goodison.
We go around the exact same circle week after week. Rivals drop points. Spurs have a chance to cement their position and overtake other clubs. Tottenham fail to beat a team at the bottom of the table. Whoever gets fourth this season is likely going to be the best of a bad bunch, but Spurs don’t even look good enough to earn that title at the moment.
What on Earth has Danjuma got to do to earn some minutes on the pitch? With his history with Everton, it seemed written for him to come off the bench and score a meaningful goal. Unfortunately, he would have to actually come off the bench for that to happen. Surely, with Lucas Moura now banned, the Villarreal winger will get a chance next week, right?
It doesn’t seem to matter which players are on the pitch or which manager is in the dugout, Spurs have always looked scared when defending a lead in important moments – for as long as I have watched them. They were 1-0 up against a 10-man Everton yesterday and looked like a non-league club trying to see out an FA Cup upset. It was embarrassing. If that was Man City or another big club, they would have effortlessly knocked the ball around and left ten-man Everton chasing shadows until the final whistle.
I know Stellini doesn’t want to drastically change anything and leave Spurs playing catch-up for the rest of the season, but I fail to see the logic. By all means, if Plan A was even close to working, then crack on. But it isn’t. Literally, all Stellini has to do is set the team up to attack or switch to a back four and the fans would applaud him even if we don’t win. Just take the free plaudits, please.
I laughed when I saw Kane go down holding his face. I knew that 90% of players in the Premier League would do exactly the same, and have done the exact same this season. But because it was Harry Kane, I knew that Twitter would explode with criticism. It has become so popular to put him in the spotlight and hold him to ridiculous standards that no one else is held to.
Tottenham Hotspur’s latest capitulation left fans outraged – and should leave Lucas Moura on the sidelines for the rest of the season.
Spurs were leading 1-0 against a 10-man Everton side on Monday night, which should have set them up to win.
Tottenham were shocking with the numerical advantage though, giving Everton hope of a fightback.
Lucas Moura then picked up a straight red card mere moments after coming on as a substitute.
Tottenham fans probably knew what was coming next, though maybe not quite in the way it happened.

Michael Keane’s long-range screamer secured a predictable leveller for Everton, leaving Tottenham with two dropped points.
Spurs fans are probably sick of this now and maybe Antonio Conte’s rant in March wasn’t all that far from the truth.
Tottenham were already poor with 11 against 10, but substitute Lucas went and plunged Spurs into real trouble.
The Brazilian’s challenge on Michael Keane was a nasty one and his six-minute cameo should be the end of his Tottenham career.
Lucas will be banned for three games, meaning he would return with six games to play.
That doesn’t matter though – Lucas should be done at Tottenham.
The 30-year-old is out of contract this summer and Conte actually admitted in January that Moura will be leaving when his contract expires.
A hero in Amsterdam back in 2019, Lucas has struggled for fitness this season and it’s time for everyone to move on.
You have to question… why was Lucas even on the pitch against Everton in the first place?
Tottenham had January signing Arnaut Danjuma on the bench as another option to bring on in the final third.
Tottenham need to be making a decision on the Villarreal loanee’s long-term future, yet he has played just 11 Premier League minutes.
Cristian Stellini’s decision to give minutes to Lucas – who is already leaving the club this summer – over Danjuma felt like a strange one.
That decision backfired very quickly and Stellini may wish he had done with Danjuma instead.
It’s not even like Lucas has been making a big impact this term – he hasn’t looked like a Premier League player all season.
Everybody knows it’s time for Lucas to leave Tottenham and yet he is still brought on ahead of Danjuma.
Maybe that says a lot about the Dutchman’s progress but there should not be any reason why Lucas continues to feature ahead of Danjuma between now and the summer.
